A day in the life
We start the day with time for the dogs to greet each other and play, with time in our play zones and activities aimed at engaging the nose and mind to set us for a day of fun.
For dogs booked on for the off lead enclosed, secure field group walk, they head off for fun, snuffling and running during the morning and other dogs or puppies who need shorter walks are cared for and exercised around our facilities and fields.
When all dogs are back at PL HQ its time for chill and naps, with each dog having a choice of the preferred indoor space and bed type.
It's important that dogs have downtime throughout the day, to process what they've learned through play and training. To make sure your dog is happy and relaxed, after the walk they are encouraged to nap in their favourite spot.
After lunch there's more opportunity for play inside and outside, and walks tailored for each dog.
Throughout the day there is plenty of free playtime to nurture those all important social skills as well as important time to rest, calm and enjoy some bonding with our expert carers.
We keep you updated with your dog’s progress and send a personalised daily report, with photos of your dog’s day and adventures
Preparing your dog for daycare
The most important thing to remember is to pack any meals your dog needs whilst in our care.
Mostly, it’s just our puppies that have a meal time, but some of our older dogs come in with food too!
Please write your dog’s name on their lunch box or bag and hand this to the team. We have cupboards, fridges and freezers to store any food that’s needed.
You are also welcome to send along any treats that we can use throughout your dog’s day as little rewards!
All our dogs must have an ID tag on their collar or harness with their pawrents details on.
We know it's hard to leave your dog for the day if you're not used to it, but your dog’s in for a pawsome day with us and the team will be in touch during the day with a pupdate and photos!
Is daycare right for my dog?
Our aim is to provide an environment where dogs can have the best day ever, building friendships, enjoying enrichment activities and growing in confidence.
We recommend that your dog comes to daycare for at least 1 half day or full day session per week. This is because like us, dogs thrive on routine and this will help socialise well with the other dogs, make new friends, get to know the team and surroundings.
If you are unsure about how often you need daycare and whether you can commit, we are happy to advise as there may be situations where a trusted dog walker may be more appropriate. We are happy to advise on local, safe, insured and trusted dog walkers in our area.
It is important that all dogs at Pawsitive Life doggy day care are assessed and introduced individually, so that they, and their furry friends, can enjoy the best day care experience. This is why we can’t accept all dogs. Our day care doesn’t suit everyone, some dogs can find a day care environment over stimulating. This includes dogs over 1 year who have not been neutered and females in season.
If your dog is not ready for daycare yet, we will be able to help you improve their confidence and ability to remain calm with our bitesize Intro to Daycare session.
If we feel that a day care environment is too overwhelming or stimulating for some dogs, we are completely transparent and honest with owners . We only ever do what’s best for the dogs and daycare isn't always the best option for some dogs. In this case we would always make some suggestions for an alternative and less stimulating environment. A dogs health and happiness always first, no matter what.
If you have any questions, please get in touch and our team will be happy to chat about our enrolment process and day care environment with you.

What to look for when choosing doggy daycare
When choosing doggy daycare, make sure you feel welcomed and well informed about the premises, team and what a typical day entails. You should always be offered a tour and chance to explore, so please don't be afraid to ask when you enquire at any doggy daycare.
It's important to choose a centre which offers more than just an open field as whilst they are great, if dogs are put together to play in a field all day, it can cause them to become over aroused and lead to fights and decreased obedience. Dogs like variety, including indoor spaces, fun equipment and different chill and play zones.
At Pawsitive Life we actively encourage new Pawrents to come and see our centre for their selves, and feel happy with our environment.
Here’s a checklist of what to look for on your visit:
-
Are the dogs friendly, social and happy together?
-
Is it calm and quiet or noisy and chaotic?
-
Do the staff look like they love the dogs and are they actively engaging with the dogs?
-
What is the indoor and rest space like?
-
Is there enough open space for the dogs to spread out? Too many dogs in close confines can be overwhelming.
-
How many dogs do they have together in one space?
-
Are they licensed?
It's important to also chat and ask questions with all team members, and don’t be afraid to pose difficult questions:
-
What will my dogs day look like?
-
What happens in extreme weather?
-
Where can dogs go to sleep or chill? Are there separate areas for dogs who need space?
-
Who will be looking after my dog?
-
How is food stored?
-
Are they insured, licensed and registered with a local vet?
-
What happens if 2 dogs don't get along?
-
What is the staff-to-dog ratio? As a guide, Pawsitive Life we operate on a ratio of 1 carer to 8 dogs at an absolute maximum.
-
Do they throw balls/toys/etc? While this sounds fun, in a group dynamic this can cause challenges.
-
Are the dogs transported and if so for how long do they spend on the doggy bus?
-
Do they accept un-neutered males over a certain age?
Our doggy daycare is centred around providing:
-
Lots of space
-
Expert team
-
Experience
This means that our carer to dog ratio is high and the dogs are not crammed into close confines and all dogs have access to off lead playtime and enrichment activities, which are good for both physical and mental health.
