The puppy journey with Pawsitive Life
The first six months of a puppy’s life are key in ensuring they gain those vital life and social skills.
Becoming a dog parent can be a pretty full-on experience with so much to learn and understand about your new puppy, but we believe it should be fun.
At Pawsitive Life we are dedicated to helping you and your puppy start off on the right foot and grow in confidence together. We are here to guide you, focusing not only on your pup, but also on you as the dog parent.
Puppy training
During our 6 week puppy class, we give you the skills and confidence needed to interpret your dogs needs and behaviour to help build a better relationship with them.
We focus on teaching the owners and the dogs to work with each other to build a strong bond that lasts a lifetime.
Pawrents and Pups benefit from small classes, individual coaching, post session emails, a tailored fun and welcoming approach.
We are purely positive and our mission is to help lead the way in force free and "tool" free training and with good, consistent communication between you and your pup and you'll see them grow from week to week.
Amongst teaching you how to train the basics through to recall, we want to help you understand:
-
How to properly socialise your dog, helping you with common mistakes.
-
Why your dog may have "selective hearing"
-
The currencies of a dog and how to use them properly.
-
The "ladder of discomfort".
-
What is meant by "working distance" and how to use it.
-
How to understand your dogs body language.
Please note that session 1 is without dogs as it's an important introduction to positive force free training and how to get the most out of the 6 week sessions for you and your puppy.

Puppy Preschool
Puppy Preschool is the next step dedicated to nurturing development and providing a safe and fun environment for puppies to prepare for the wider world.
Puppies can be enrolled in puppy day care usually from the age of 12 weeks old, once fully vaccinated. However like children, puppies learn at their own pace so some may not be ready whereas others might be raring to go so we assess every puppy individually.
Puppy Preschool is 3hr bitesize sessions combining socialisation and enrichment, using only positive modern training techniques to take them through to our graduation process.
Graduating is the biggest step your puppy will make outside of Preschool. We slowly introduce them to adult dogs who are experienced with puppies, who will ensure they feel confident and ready to meet their new friends. We transition out of preschool, taking it at their pace. We highly recommend Puppy Preschool as the first step to daycare..

A day in the life
On arrival the team will get to know your puppy and introduce them to their regular, or well matched puppy friends. We engage the puppies in activities to engage their minds and bodies, rather than a crazy free for all play session. We will then take your puppy on a short countryside lead walk, no more than 30 mins but will be shorter depending on age.
After the first hour of preschool, it’s very important the puppy catches up on their sleep. Our indoor space is the perfect place for some downtime and naps. Depending on how much rest your pup needs, there will opportunities to learn and plan before you come to take them home.
We will always keep you updated on your puppies progress, as well your puppy preschool report and pictures.
